Tree planting at Tempe high school

APS volunteers joined the non-profit organization Trees Matter on November 18 to plant six desert-adapted trees in front of Tempe High School. The trees, put in along a sidewalk on Mill Avenue, will provide a tree canopy for students walking to and from school. Pedestrians using the busy sidewalk will also enjoy the shade. The Red Pistache trees turn a beautiful red color in the fall. They grow fast and do well in warm weather. November is the best time to plant trees in Arizona, so they have time to establish roots before the extreme heat of the summer.
