Strategic Transmission Expansion

aps
To prioritize reliability and meet substantial growth in residential and commercial energy needs, APS has developed a future-focused Strategic Transmission Expansion (STX) portfolio. APS also files a ten-year transmission plan with the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) each year.
The STX projects represent a significant upgrade to our transmission system.
- Support growing energy needs — New transmission lines expand our capacity to serve increasing customer energy needs and our ability to deliver energy where it is needed.
- Strengthen reliability — New lines will strengthen reliability for customers and improve the resilience of the grid. In some areas, new transmission lines will replace lines that have reached the end of their design lives.
- Connect to new resources — New and upgraded transmission lines increase capacity, allowing us to connect to additional generation resources and procure more cost–competitive energy for customers through the wholesale power market. These lines bring more energy into our service territory and support our diverse resource mix.
